How We Work

How We Work

Creating learning programmes that empower and enrich lives

Our approach is to create individual programmes of study and sessions to meet the needs of our students.

Our education team assess each individual in order to provide a better understanding of how each of our student’s brain and body really work. We then create a bespoke package or programme of study.

Dedicated to empowering education for all

Our founding team are committed to developing a suitable model of best practice and targeting specific areas where change is needed.
In some cases, our students and their parents choose their own teachers. Our specialist teachers are not just part of the student’s education but part of their social, emotional and mental health.

Everybody’s needs are different

We facilitate the development of skills and strategies for each student so they have the tools to approach and manage their learning journey. We recognise that each person is motivated in their own way. Therefore, a bespoke praise and reward system is also created to suit each individual.

We provide safe contact so they can feel understood and offer peer support.

Regular parent network coffee and a conflate about shared experiences. | Workshops - to gain knowledge and pursue interests

Bee Smart Tutoring

BEE SMART TUTORING is a cost-effective way of providing specialist educational support and guidance from a highly-qualified tutor with just a fraction of the outlay of normal tuition models.

What is Bee Smart Tutoring?

Securing a pass at GCSE English and Maths is now compulsory for all areas of further study and higher education. In fact, there are few careers where a good GCSE pass at English and Maths is not a prerequisite. Covid has meant that many students have missed whole areas of their education. In addition, the cost of private one-to-one tuition has risen recently. One session with a tutor can cost anything from £35-£50. With the increased cost of living and the aftermath of the pandemic, many parents may understandably feel that weekly, private one to one tuition is outside of their reach. However, with SMART TUTORING, students can access essential professional support without the need for weekly tuition. Furthermore, SMART TUTORING works particularly well if your child is motivated.

How Bee Smart Tutoring Works

With SMART TUTORING, communication between tutor, parent and student is key. Once you have decided that you might like to proceed with SMART TUTORING, we shall arrange a FREE call to discuss what you feel your child needs help with. We then set up an online assessment with your child. This will give us an idea of how we can help your child make progress. We then provide you with a report detailing areas they need to work on, suggested resources and a time line for work to be completed. Work will be sent weekly to the tutor for marking and constructive comments. You can agree with the tutor the number of one-to-one sessions you may require for your child. If your child is well-motivated, we would suggest a catch-up every four to six weeks.

Don’t see what you think you need? Give us a call - we just haven't met you yet!

Our Students and Parents have a lot to say...

I’ve been excluded from 6 schools, and I’m only 11 ! I look forward to my sessions at BEE because I like to learn. My teachers are great, they get me and know how to use resources to help me with new knowledge, make connections with information I already know. If I don’t quite understand they find ways of explaining it to me. I get to be alone in my own space and I can ask questions without being teased.“

Harry, 14, Barnsley
“I was taken away from my family, school, and village for my own safety. I came to live in Wakefield so I could make a new start. I found it really difficult to settle and the transition was very hard…. I found that my regular education sessions really helped me face and manage my new normal. I’d missed so much school I never thoughtI’d get any GCSE qualifications. I really enjoyed learning and the tutors at BEE really gave me the support and encouragement I needed. I managed to achieve level 6 in English, Level5 in Maths, and 2x Level 5 and Level 6 Science. I was accepted on the Level 3 Health and Social Care course at Wakefield College”

Anonymous,17, West Yorkshire
I like Mary-Ann’s lessons because they’re fun and we get to go out sometimes and not stay inside all day, frying our brains until we're bored. I personally really like her lessons because we get to create our own stories and paint bird boxes. Overall it’s just never boring. We always have something to do because we get new learning opportunities. We sometimes go to farms, museums, art galleries, and old ruins of castles like Sandal hill; that trip was really fun! think Mary-Ann's a really good tutor for all ages and a really good example for other tutors and kids.”

Milly, 12, Barnsley
“I hated fractions, Honestly I found them traumatic even looking at them. They triggered my anxiety and my ticks got so bad I found it hard to regulate. Mary-Ann let me play with lego and after I built a computer out of lego she asked me to work out how many bricks I’d used and then count the colours used. She then showed me that I had just done fractions. She tricked me! I’m excited about fractions now and honestly I have to use fractions (especially algebraic fractions) to get me started with my maths sessions now."

Jay,11 Barnsley
"A mother’s love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible. As an SEN parent, no amount of planning and preparation we do with our children matters when the services that are being provided aren’t thinking about the children’s individual needs. BEE works with our family to provide a suitable education for our son. We are so proud and get really excited when we get updates on his electronic learning journal."

Parent, South Yorkshire
"The team at BEE not only supports our son's education but also is helping him with his confidence and independence. Every little bit of his bespoke program of study naturally impacts the whole family."

Becky, Parent, Barnsley
“Doing my learning at home in an environment in which I feel safe and comfortable allows me to focus on my studies and learning. My parents and tutors all are very supportive. The fact that as an independent student, I can do the GCSE subjects of my choice over a few years rather all in one go. This will help me because my anxiety will be less overwhelming”.
